He has always been interested in sustainability and reducing carbon emissions. He is retired GP and when running Hindon Surgery instituted various small measures to reduce energy use and car journeys to the surgery - doing as much as possible in a single surgery visit, a prescription pick-up service in a community village shop and promoting remote ways to communicate. He is chair of governors of Wardour Catholic Primary School and a Patient Safety Partner at Salisbury NHS Foundation Trust.
